Healthy Eyes

Our eyesight is precious. When someone loses his or her eyesight, it's practically impossible to recover it. That's why it's important to learn who's most at risk for losing their eyesight, know the symptoms of vision loss, and learn ways to prevent it.

People with diabetes are at very high risk of experiencing vision loss. Diabetics should be particularly mindful of the symptoms of vision loss and cotnact their physicians if they experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Blurred or double vision
  • Halos around lights
  • Eye pain
  • Spots in their vision
  • Vision loss
  • Tunnel vision

To prevent vision loss:

  • Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful UV radiation.
  • Eat plenty of foods with antioxidant vitamins, including Vitamins A, C and D.
  • Keep your blood pressure in check.
