ANXIOUS? ANGRY? WITHOUT HOPE?
What you feel is real. We can help.

It feels like your nerves are stretched to their limit -- constantly. Or it might be an inexplicable panic that arises with frightening frequency. It could be a sense of despair that won't lift, perhaps an inability to get along with other people. Sometimes, it is an uncontrollable temper triggered by insignificant things. Maybe you attribute feelings of anxiety, sadness, and anger to a bad week at work or too little sleep. You think they'll subside. But they don't, and you wonder why you can't handle things better. You wonder what's wrong with you.

Your Feelings Are Real, and They Are Common

Unrelenting nervousness, helplessness, sorrow, and rage: these are not unusual feelings. They may be the result of mood disorders, emotional difficulties, or interpersonal relationship problems. Whatever their source, they are very real.

The cause is simple: life. Too little time. Too much to do. Unrealistic expectations. Unbearable pressure. Things happen that can make us feel frustrated, powerless, and fearful, and when they do, our ability to cope can be overwhelmed. Anxiety, anger, and unhappiness can be brought on by the death of a loved one, a divorce, serious illness, or even by less dramatic events, such as a child leaving for college. Career pressures, a job loss, or a promotion that doesn't happen -- any of these can produce feelings of resentment and hopelessness.

Who feels this way? Almost everybody. Women, men, people who hold all kinds of jobs, raise families, keep appointments, and manage households-all of them feel this way at some time. Many of them seek help to feel better.
