The Woman's Diagnostic Center is located at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in the lower level of the Medical Office Building. We offer comprehensive imaging services for women--including both screening and diagnostic mammography, including digital mammography, ultrasound and bone densitometry scans (DEXA). We also perform breast biopsy procedures using both ultrasound and stereotactic guidance.
Our hours are:
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY is available at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Springfield Hospital, Crozer Medical Plaza at Brinton Lake and Media Medical Plaza. This new services offers patients and doctors a number of advantages over film mammograms, including a reduced exam time and better image visibility.

MAMMOGRAPHY is the specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose X-ray system and high-contrast, high-resolution film for examination of the breasts. Mammography is an important tool in the early detection of breast cancers. Mammography can show changes in the breast years before a patient or physician can feel them. A BONE DENSITOMETRY or DEXA scan calculates mineral density and translates this value into a number. This number can then be compared to future DEXA test results to determine the effects of osteoporosis on your body. The test is painless and uses a very low-dose radiation. It is extremely safe and exposes the patient to much less radiation than a standard X-ray. As the patient lies on their back, the machine scans over their body. The computer then calculates bone mineral density. To schedule an appointment, please call (610) 284-8985.
ULTRASOUND uses high-frequency waves to produce images without any radiation to the patient. It can differentiate between a fluid-filled cyst and a solid mass. It can also be used to localize a lesion during a breast biopsy performed in the Woman's Diagnostic Center.
